Comments: Bella and Bandit were dumped in a high kill animal control, along with 3 other dogs in the house. Don’t worry-they all got out and got to rescue! (thanks to IAMRA who took Beasty and Beauty and Happy Tails who took senior Blue). All were overweight but we think Bandit took the cake. Literally. He came in well over 100lbs. You cannot tell in his pictures - he actually looks really good, but he is still morbidly obese, as is Bella. Make no mistake-this is abuse just the same as an emaciated dog is. Neither Bandit nor Bella could run when they came to us and their energy was super low.
Due to exposure at the shelter and their poor condition, both came down with pneumonia and only intense round the clock care from our wonderful partners at Autumn Green Vet Clinic got them through. But they have fully recovered and are well on their way to becoming more active and healthy.
We think Bella is mom to Bandit. They are very bonded and we are not going to separate them. We know we are asking a lot of our adopters - bringing in 2 dogs at one time is not easy. And adding these two means adding close to 200lbs of dog to your house. But this is what is in their best interest so we will only consider a home together for both of them.
These dogs are beyond sweet. They just soak up love and give it back 100 fold. They deserve so much more than what they have had so far in life. We are committed to giving it to them.
