Foster Follies: Diary of an AAHI foster dog

Every Dog Has its Day                 October 19,2010

Well, everyone, today's title of this entry has new meaning for me. Now don't get me wrong, everyone that I have met since I came into the Adopt A Husky program has been wonderful but today is my day, just for me. A couple weeks ago, a woman named Lauren came out to spend some time with me. She wasn't one of the residents of the WI home or someone from the IL neighborhood. I was curious who and why she stopped by. I really enjoyed our time together and then she said goodbye. I really didn't think much about it and went on with my day. Several days went by and while in WI, Lauren stopped by again. I was very happy to see her and she was excited to see me. My FD & FM had a conversation with her, they both wrote things down on some paper and before I knew it they were asking me if I was ready to go. I knew it wasn't time to go back to IL so I was a bit confused.  WELL, guess what, Lauren came back to say that she wanted to adopt me. YAHOO!!! I finally have a human to call my own. I couldn't be happier, you can see by the picture that was taken when I was given the news.

Thank you to all my FMs, my FD and AAHI for taking a chance on me. I will make you all proud. I will try and get my new human Lauren to send updates so you can all hear how great I am doing and maybe we can make it to the Hike in May.

Take care everyone!!

Kenai

Riding in Style                        October 7, 2010

So who would have thought that a dog like me would have the opportunity to learn about chairs that move. At first  I thought, this chair isn't bad but it's not as comfortable as the one in the house. And THEN.......FD did a flick of the wrist and all of a sudden, we were moving. I looked down at my paws to be sure they weren't in motion and they weren't. We were moving down the street saying hello to all we passed. It was like a parade just for ME!! Well, who wouldn't come to that!! I highly suggest all you pups out there tell your peeps to get one of these, it gives the meaning of riding in style a whole new meaning. I didn't get to see it but I think there is even a secret compartment where treats, I'm sure,  are stored. On my next ride, I'll have to distract FD and do a little investigating to find it.

Whoever ordered this weather up?      Sept. 21,2010

I'd like to have a word with them!! Now is the time of the year that us northern breeds look forward to the cooler weather with the dreams of snow in the not too distant future.  What am I grumbling about? See the weather chart below for Northern Illinois today.

How is a double coated dog supposed to hunt down those squirrels that are tormenting him in this sort of weather? Instead, today I had to hunt down the coolest spot in the house in order to take a nap........

the cool marble tiles in front of the fireplace.  Of course, in a few months this spot will be too hot but for now, I'm just chilling and waiting for supper. Oh, and my FD took a photo of me snoozing.  I'm just the center of attention.

ciao for now

Did you ever wonder?    Sept 16th, 2010

I'm very lucky that I've ended up in a foster home that has two homes so I get to travel and hear just how handsome I am and what a good dog I am from WAY more people then my previous bloggers. Although they were all quite good looking, how can you beat this face?

Here I'm hanging out with step sis Sophie and my FM just waiting for someone to stop by and say hello.

So back to my question....

Ever wonder how those squirrels are able to jump from tree to tree and not fall out of the tree? I'm still trying to figure that out but I'm hanging close just in case one does happen to mess up. Finders keepers losers weepers right?

Hopefully in the future I will have some pictures of me traveling in style in this really big chair that has wheels. You won't believe it.

Sept. 10th, 2010

Hello, Everyone. My name is Kenai, like the big National Park up in Alaska, but most humans just call me Kenny. I am the new foster blogger!  It’s been a while since we have had a foster follies and I am honored to have been chosen.  Not sure why I was picked-I’m a pretty low key guy who is not real flashy like some of those other divas, oops, I mean “ladies” that have been featured here before.  All the folks at Adopt a Husky say that everyone who has met me just loves me so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've been in my foster home for several weeks now and love to romp and play in the yard with Sophie and Victor, the other 2 Siberians here.  We spent last week camping in Wisconsin.  Had many long walks and everyone in the camp wanted to pet me.  My long red hair and gentle disposition had a lot to do with that, I guess.  The other dogs my size are fun but the little, jumpy, yappie ones make me nervous.

I got my first bath here yesterday when we got home and my coat is so bright and shiny now.

Baths are very exhausting.  Best to go nap now but I’ll be back so check here often!

Hope to see you soon,

Kenai.
